Juried Student Art Show Winners Named
Feb. 14, 2002 -- More than $2000 was awarded to the winners of the 27th annual Juried Student Exhibition, which is on display at the University of Wyoming Art Museum through March 2.
Kumiko McKee from Laramie took first place for the second consecutive year, and was awarded $300 for her painting, "Vision." Jesse Fales from Cody won the $300 College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Award for her sculpture, "Cowgirl in Angora Woolies."
The $200 Juror's Award was presented to Candice Ashment from Laramie for her work, "Light." Second place and $150 was awarded to Patrick Hoffman from Laramie for "Peapods." Honorable mention awards worth $100 were presented to Laramie students Christina Childs for "Jonathan," and Mark Johnston for his work "Pacific Rim." Johnston also received the President's Choice award.
The ASUW purchase award was presented to Justin White, Laramie, for his work, "September." The Student Art League cash awards were presented to Travis Ivey, Laramie, for his work "Untitled Monument," and Justin White of Laramie for "Silent War." The Office of Academic Affairs Purchase Awards were presented to Candice Ashment for her work "Negocio," Justin White, "Silent War," Dannine Donaho, Laramie, for "Prayer," and Beth Buskirk, Laramie, "Growth/Decay."
